Your first visit to
Duddingston Park.

On your first visit you’ll receive a warm welcome as we go through your medical and dental history, and perform a thorough exam. We’ll also ask about your oral care needs, and any other concerns you might have.

Our dental services don’t have to break the bank, with finance options available to all our patients spending over £250 on any treatment.

We’d like to make the whole process as painless as possible, so we’ve made the application simple and often we can provide a decision on the same day. We can also offer quotes on request.

Our finance packages provide interest free terms of 6, 8 and 12 months. Payment plans over 24, 36, 48 and 60-month periods are available with an interest rate of 9.9% APR.

To find out more or to arrange a consultation call us on 0131 669 9977.

We do understand how scary dentistry can be for certain patients, so we’re happy to offer intravenous sedation as part of the therapeutic process. Currently we provide sedation on a private-only basis.

We know it’s sometimes hard to schedule an appointment during the week, so we’re also open on Saturdays from 9am – 1pm.

We certainly do – all patients are welcome here at Duddingston Park. Please enquire if you’d like to find out further information about specific treatments.

It depends on the cause. If ice cream equals ‘ouch’, and hot drinks make you wince, it could be general sensitivity and you might benefit from a toothpaste specially designed for sensitive teeth. You can also apply a little to the sensitive area at bedtime as a protective layer.

Try to avoid strongly acidic foods and drinks and – we cannot stress this enough – wait at least an hour after eating before brushing as this can cause even more sensitivity. Acid from food and drink  such as citrus fruit, sweets and wine can strip the enamel (outer casing) leaving the dentine beneath exposed and vulnerable, so brushing when the acid is at its most active just gives it a helping hand – the sort you can do without.

This is the point that treatment would be needed from your surgery, and, much as we love our patients, we’re also happy to see less of them because they are taking care of their teeth!

Sometimes there can be another reason for sensitive teeth, which is down to the issue of teeth grinding. You might not realise you’re doing it but your dentist can usually spot the signs of it. Once identified, we can supply a mouth guard to help with this issue.

This is very common, but it’s important that you don’t ignore it. This occurs when plaque (a soft film of bacteria) is left on the teeth and causes inflammation (Gingivitis). This inflammation is known as Gingivitis and can develop into gum disease.

You need to brush your teeth twice daily – including the gums (as brushing actually helps rather than irritates, because you attack the source of the problem). Plaque which is not removed through daily brushing can build up and turn into a hard deposit called tartar or calculus, and this is the point that you will need professional scaling by your dentist to remove it.

So, you can think of bleeding gums as a sort of early-warning system. The earlier you spot it, the easier it is to treat.

Worried about where to park? We’ve got you covered. You’ll find free parking right next to the building, so no driving round and round looking for a space!

Although we are very much a family-friendly practice, we would advise that people only bring their children if they have prior appointments. If not, we do prefer to follow the current guidelines and ask that children stay home, to keep everyone safe.

Arranging your appointment.

We’re ready and waiting to take your call or email. We can even arrange to call at a time that’s convenient for you. You’ll find us helpful, professional and friendly. No scary receptionists here!
